Benefits of Out-of-State Rehab

Benefits of Traveling Out of State for Rehab to Sunrise House

The anticipation of taking a life-changing step like rehab can be exciting, scary, and wonderful. But after struggling with an addiction to drugs or alcohol for a period of time, although painful, may feel more comfortable only because it is more familiar. Undergoing treatment in a familiar environment, such as one surrounded by unhealthy influences and negative people, may also feel more comfortable.

At Sunrise House Treatment Center, a rehab facility in New Jersey, patients get the opportunity to focus on getting sober in order to build a life of long-term sobriety. Attending treatment out of state may help decrease triggers and help individuals to focus on their recovery. American Addiction Centers (AAC) is the parent company of Sunrise House and the nationwide leader in addiction treatment.

What to Expect When Going to Out-of-State Rehab

Once individuals arrive at the facility, they’re welcomed by a receptionist. They’re luggage is tagged, medications are gathered (if they’ve brought any with them), and insurance information is logged.

The wellness nurse is the second person who the newly arrived patients meet with. They determine the need for psychiatric or medical stabilization. Individuals also meet with a counselor and doctor for a psychiatric and medical assessment. Using the results and information gathered from these assessments helps them to create a tailored plan for each unique patient in starting treatment.

There are two options for first steps after the initial admission process: (1) the individual goes directly into a treatment program if they have already been medically detoxed at another rehab facility or (2) to undergo supervised medical detox at our facility.

Not only does Sunrise provide medical detox under a licensed physician and professional staff, but we also provide treatment for partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), residential rehab, and even treatment for co-occurring disorders such as depression or anxiety.

Benefits of Choosing a Rehab in a Different State

One of the benefits in attending Sunrise House Treatment Center is we make safety for both our patients and staff  a top priority. This takes a lot of worry out of the process.

We’re adhering to the CDC guidelines for COVID-19 protocols. Although getting vaccinated isn’t required to be admitted, those who have been vaccinated will need to provide their vaccination card. Additionally, every individual is tested for COVID-19 prior to being admitted and staff is regularly tested. Instead of worrying about contracting COVID, individuals can have the peace of mind to focus on sobriety.

And peace of mind is helpful, as there are so many other aspects of treatment to concentrate on. Sunrise House offers 12-step groups, art/music therapy, family therapy, and one-on-one counseling. Based on the patient’s specific needs and the assessment provided, we have the ability to accommodate a variety of individuals–and we want to do so.

AAC is inclusive. Sunrise House provides a specialized program for the LGBTQ+ community, which supports not only their struggles with drugs or alcohol, but the unique needs that they face through their own life experience.

And one of the greatest benefits in traveling to rehab in another state is not having to be in an environment that contributed to the individual’s drug and/or alcohol misuse in the first place. Individuals get the opportunity to be in a sober space surrounded by likeminded individuals and a supportive staff that is championing them on as they walk along their road to recovery.
