Aftercare & Alumni Program

When Your Time at Sunrise House Ends

Sunrise House discharge planners will work with you, your counselor, and your doctors to determine the best step forward. Once a path has been decided upon, your Family Counselor will hold an exit conference for you and your family in order to get everybody on the same page.

In order to minimize the risk of relapse, discharge planners will often recommend possible outpatient programs, sober living homes, or 12-step chapters for you to connect with once you return home.

You will also have the option of allowing an alumni coordinator to reach out to you at certain intervals after you leave treatment to check in.

Keeping a Recovery Network

A successful recovery is often dependent on having a strong support network. When you have people to turn to, shoulders to cry on, and friends to confide in, you’ll find seemingly unsurmountable challenges are actually much smaller than they appear.

Community is one of the most important aspects of recovery. At Sunrise House, we recognize this and will help you find that community.

Weekly 12-Step Meetings

We host Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings every day at Sunrise House. Patients currently enrolled in Sunrise House’s residential, PHP, and Intensive Outpatient programs are encouraged to attend. However, the meetings are also open to those not enrolled in a Sunrise House program.

Additionally, our discharge planners will work to connect you with local AA chapters and 12-Step meetings, so you can stay connected with a support network during recovery.

Weekly AA Meetings

  • Wednesday 8:00 p.m. – Closed AA meeting – Cafeteria (enter front of building by chapel)

Weekly Al-Anon Meetings

  • Wednesday 8:00 p.m. – Closed Al-Anon meeting – Waiting room (through main entrance)
  • Sunday 7:30 p.m. – Closed Al-Anon – Men-Only meeting – Waiting room (through main entrance)

Our Alumni Program

If you opt to be enrolled in Sunrise House’s alumni program, you’ll receive check-ins from the facility’s alumni outreach staff on recovery mile-markers (30, 60, and 90 days).

Sunrise House is adding to its schedule of alumni events to keep those in recovery connected to the community. We currently offer weekly alumni meetings, held at Sunrise House every Thursday evening.

Alumni will also be added to a Facebook group to keep in contact with their peers, learn of more seasonal alumni events, and to reach out rapid support, if needed.

If you choose to attend alumni events, we encourage you to bring friends and family with you.

On the third Wednesday of every month, the alumni network hosts a medallion ceremony for those who have reached 90 or more days of sobriety.
