What Can I Expect When I go Into Treatment?

Doing anything for the first time can be scary. Taking that first step into treatment can be scary. But are fears of the unknown bigger than the desire to get help for substance abuse? They don’t have to be. Drugs and alcohol may have hindered you in many areas of your life. But don’t let fear stop you from getting the help that you need in order to live a healthy and sober life.

At Sunrise House Treatment Center, a facility of the American Addiction Centers’ family, you not only get the treatment that you need, but the impact of the experience will last a lifetime.

Individuals enter the treatment center knowing that their safety and that of others is a top priority. Sunrise provides coronavirus testing for incoming patients, as well as for the professional staff that provides the in-person care. This eliminates the constant concern for having to choose between the threat of contracting COVID and getting the care you need for substance abuse. This should never be a choice you have to make.

Sunrise also provides medical detox under a licensed physician, treatment for co-occurring disorders (e.g. depression, anxiety), intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), intensive medical rehab, live-in rehabilitation treatment, and a partial hospitalization program (PHP).

The help doesn’t stop there. Sunrise offers art/music therapy, 12-step groups, one-on-one counseling, family therapy, and so much more. Based on your specific needs and the assessment provided for you, Sunrise has the ability to accommodate a variety of individuals.

And because American Addiction Centers is inclusive and is open to supporting those in need, Sunrise House even provides a specialized program for the LGBTQ community, supporting their unique needs and their battle with alcohol or drug use.

This new experience and treatment may not only save lives, but may help individuals to live the full and productive life that they never knew was possible.

So, what does this experience look like?

Once you arrive to the New Jersey-based facility, within the first 24 hours you’ll be welcomed by a receptionist. They will tag your luggage, gather any medications you brought with you, and take down your insurance information. Not so scary, right?

Because everyone is different and needs to be treated as such, the wellness nurse is the second person who you will meet with. They will determine if you need psychiatric or medical stabilization. You will then meet with a counselor and doctor for a psychiatric and medical assessment. Using this information is how they’re able to create an individualized treatment plan just for you.

Depending on your situation, your first step could be going directly into a treatment program if you’ve medically detoxed elsewhere. Or if you’re still in need of medically supervised detox, this will be your first step.

Planning helps to ease the mind. So, speak to AAC’s admission navigators. Read through all of the updated information on the Sunrise House Treatment Center website. Read the credible reviews online. Get comfortable. Learn as much as you can.

And although gathering as much information as possible ahead of time helps to paint a strong visual of what you can expect, there is never a substitute for experience. So, after you complete your due diligence, the choice is yours to walk through the door to get the treatment you need so you can live the life that you want.
