Sunrise House Welcomes Tom Britton, New CEO of American Addiction Centers

Staff at Sunrise House enthusiastically welcomed the arrival of American Addiction Centers’ new CEO, Dr. Tom Britton to the facility on Thursday, February 24, 2022.

Dr. Britton took on his role as CEO of American Addiction Centers (AAC) on February 7, 2022, and brings a wealth of experience in the industry combined with an immense amount of passion and dedication. Britton comes to AAC and Sunrise House from Gateway Health, one of the largest non-profit providers of addiction treatment in the nation, where he served as president & CEO.

Dr. Britton has more than 30 years of experience in the addiction treatment industry. His desire to serve those who struggle with substance use disorders stemmed from his own story of addiction. His journey toward recovery and helping others drove him to earn a master’s in marriage and family therapy and a master’s in addiction counseling, and to begin work with individuals in need. Dr. Britton went on to earn a PhD in public health.

Dr. Britton has firsthand experience working as a clinician with patients that suffer from severe mental illness, trauma, and substance use disorders. His expertise in both addiction and mental health will help Sunrise House, a renowned treatment provider, continue to set the industry standard for addiction and co-occurring disorder care.
